To level the hem, I took a series of pictures
of my feet after I’d pinned it to check
all the way around, since that’s hard to do without a helper. It’s a
little short at front and back, but not too bad. I managed to get
it a little bit more level as I hemmed, but I was limited by the length
of the panels, since I forgot to take the hem allowance into account
when I measured for gores.
I’m satisfied overall, and I know what
to watch out for next time—I might try flat felling my seams next time
rather than French seaming, just to see if I like the effect better.
Photos
of the finished product will have to wait until I get home, since I’ve
packed the chemise and taped the box already! Meanwhile I’ll be hemming a
veil and cutting pieces for the overgown.
