Tudor Bumblebees

A digital sketch of an Indian woman in a roughly Elizabethan outfit, with conical bodice in grey with gold and pearl embroidery, gold damask forepart and undersleeves, black overskirt and oversleeves, and blackworked coif, partlet, and chemise sleeves.
Absolutely zero reference material used, thus the odd mishmash of Tudor and Elizabethan elements.
Yesterday I spent part of my lunch break doodling a Tudor lady. Not too shabby, for fingerpainting on a free drawing app.

I like the color balance, though I have no idea if there's any evidence for bodice/overskirt combinations that aren't the same base color. The sleeve shape is also total fantasy—certain elements occur in (late) Renaissance England, but not in the ways I have them here. Still, a satisfying doodle, and I like the look of the gold brocade (and all the fancy blackwork. That's the next embroidery adventure for me...I think).

Second half of the garb doodles—somewhat more referenced, but still very rough about details. The general silhouette is more accurately late Tudor for this one, and I went with lots of slashing and puffing in the sleeves because it was almost too severe otherwise. That big black (velvet!!) coat draws a lot of visual weight with it. The stylish Tudor Crocs(tm) are also completely dead-on accurate, which makes me giggle.

See wot I did theah?
Bumblebee Tudor(ish)! Or tigers, I guess, but the friend I'd like to make this garb for/with and I have been tigers far too many times in our lives and besides tigers are orange or brown and also also besides bees are cool too. I gave the lady a coral necklace to coordinate with the lord's red garters. She might need a redworked coif, too.

Ultimately the goal is to have a set of interchangeable garb so A and I can trade off being the lord and lady at events and confuse everyone—not to mention the delightful engineering challenge, since there's a few inches' height difference between us.
